London's best museum and galleries are helping visitors get a culture fix after dark.

Night owls rejoice! London's best museums and galleries frequently stage late openings, meaning that visitors can still get their culture fix after dark. Guests at The Egerton House Hotel in Knightsbridge can make the most of these extended opening hours, which frequently include special events such as expert talks, panel discussions, workshops and film screenings, and help bring the latest art shows and museum exhibitions to life.

Natural History Museum Lates

A different and exciting way to experience one of London’s most famous museums, the  National History Museum  opens its doors after dark on the last Friday of each month. Guests can wander through the many galleries, check out the latest exhibitions and pick up a few things in the museum shop. There are also talks, demos and a chance to chat with the museum’s expert staff.

Tower Twilight Tours

One of the most spooky and gruesome attractions in London, experience the thrill of the Tower of London by night on a Tower Twilight Tour. Accompanied by a Yeoman Warder, you’ll hear some of the building’s most haunting tales as you pass by the famous Traitor’s Gate and Blood Tower.

Friday Late at the V&A Museum

A celebration of arts and culture,this lively event combines the V&A’s schedule of exhibitions with music, performance, film and debate. From 6pm-10.30pm, expect to come face to face with artists and designers, enjoy mini-lectures, storytelling and interactive installations.

Taking place on the final Friday of each month, this is a special opportunity to explore one of the city’s finest galleries after closing time. The evening event provides visitors with the chance to see the best exhibitions as well as attending pop-up talks, workshops and discussions, and enjoying some great food and drink.

Christie’s Lates

An insight into the exclusive world of fine art and antiques, Christie’s Lates are thoughtfully curated evenings that aim to showcase art to a greater audience through expert talks, interactive opportunities and delicious food. Taking place on a Monday evening, the most recent event highlighted beautiful objects from historic homes and included an interiors Q&A, as well as a contemporary take on a traditional tea salon.

RA Lates

A fabulously immersive experience, each exhibition staged at The Royal Academy of Arts has its own RA Lates event. The aim of each unique evening is to bring the exhibition to life, whether that’s through a supper club, a dancing troupe, artistic workshops or a surreal cocktail party.

Frequently coinciding with the latest exhibitions, Friday nights at the British Museum promise a lively assortment of lectures, panel discussions, live music and dance and film screenings. Events, such as the after-hours lectures, provide further fascinating insight on the museum’s astonishing collection of objects. 

Late Shift at the National Portrait Gallery

A live DJ, great cocktails and plenty of culture are on offer every Thursday night at the National Portrait Gallery. Enjoy the privilege of exploring the impressive collection of artwork without the crowds, as well as checking out the scheduled discussions and talks.

 Start the weekend with a cultural treat at one of Britain’s foremost artistic institutions with Friday Lates at the National Gallery. The venue extends its opening hours until 9pm every Friday, so visitors can make the most of their evening by admiring the gallery’s staggering collection of art, which dates from the 1200s to the present day.
