Energy Saving and Recycling

The Egerton may be a small hotel, but we prioritise our green policies. Saving on energy and recycling are two green initiatives that are important to us and something that both our guests and staff can follow.

There are a number of standard practices that we follow and we are always looking for new initiatives for a green future.

A Guide to Ethical Travel

Light Bulbs

Our lightbulbs have all been changed over to energy efficient light bulbs.

Recycling Items

Across the hotel we do our best to recycle materials such as plastics, paper, metals, cardboard etc. This includes making notepads from scrap paper and aiming to print less.

Linen Use

All guests are encouraged to leave towels in the bath if they would like them changed, otherwise they can be reused.

Lost Property

Lost property that has been unclaimed after 6 months is taken to charity shops.

Green Linen Cards

Guests are provided with a ‘Green Card’, should they wish for their sheets to be changed, the card can be placed on the bed. Without the card, the sheets are not changed, therefore saving energy.

Esocia Web Browser

All hotels are encouraged to use the web browser Ecosia, which plants trees with the revenue generated from advertisements. Find the website here.

Clean Conscience

We use Clean Conscience to recycle our slippers and linens sustainably.

Recycled Candles

We will now be recycling our candle wax in all London properties.

Biodegradable Items

We have now introduced our new Red Carnation biodegradable coffee cups, for anyone wanting to take away their coffee. And also biodegradable straws to reduce the amount of plastic used.

The guest rooms feature the fabric walls, which retains heat in and avoids the use of harmful paints.
