What's hot in London this weekend?

Music will be heard right across the capital this weekend with the London Mandolin Festival just one event taking place.

London's position on the musical map is well established, yet few will know that the there used to exist a mandolin and guitar group in every borough across the city.

The capital has a long and rich tradition of mandolin orchestras and this history will be celebrated in a dedicated festival taking place this weekend.

Bringing voluntary players from across the city together, the London Mandolin Festival will celebrate the instrument's unique place in British history and will centre on the theme 'Rumba: Rhythm + Dance'.

If that is not enough to whet the appetite of music lovers then the Festive Orchestra of London's rendition of Vivaldi's Four Seasons most certainly will.

Taking place at St Martin-in-the-Fields, the event will see the famous ensemble woo audiences with some of the most famous pieces of classical music ever written, including Bach's Concerto for Two Violins in D minor, Mozart's Divertimento No 3 in F and Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

For those travelling with kids, there are plenty of child-friendly events going on in the capital this weekend, such as Penguin at the Southbank Centre

Exciting and surreal in equal measure, this new adaptation of Polly Dunbar's award-winning book sees a silent penguin become unbelievably eloquent and a little boy get his lifelong wish.

A weekend break in the capital would not be complete without taking in some sporting action and there is plenty going on this weekend.

The Emirates Airline London Sevens is a unique event which brings 16 international standard rugby teams to the city for two days of free-flowing rugby.

Visitors will find there is as much action in the stands as there is on the pitch, as the excitement and enthusiasm takes over the crowds who create a wonderful carnival atmosphere.

What would a London weekend break be without spending an evening at the theatre?

There are a number of plays taking place across the city but one of the most innovative and unique productions will be played out at the Soho Theatre.

Pajama Men: The Last Stand to Reason sees Shenoah Allen and Mark Chavez wow audiences with their travel tales in the show which received universal acclaim at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

This is just a handful of events taking place in London this weekend and guests staying at the luxury London hotel the Egerton House hotel will find lots more to do.

When the time comes for some relaxation, guests can enjoy the delights of the Get More From Your Stay package.

The deal includes a full English breakfast in addition to a late checkout, traditional afternoon tea, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, a romantic turndown or a £50 shopping voucher to spend at Harrods.
