For two months, galleries and spaces across East London and the City will be filled with wonderful examples of photography from the local area, giving visitors from overseas the opportunity to see this part of the capital in a new and different light.

Last year's event saw 100 exhibitions held at more than 70 galleries, involving work from over 500 artists, and 2009 promises to be just as big, with photography in all its forms on display.

From art installation to social documentary, the East End of London and its people will be celebrated, with the aim of the festival to focus on photography as an art form and tool of contemporary communication.

While the exhibitions will centre around the East End, visitors can head to the west and experience the class and comfort of the luxury London hotel Egerton House.
