Since its inception in 1978, Dance Umbrella has sought to reflect and encourage interest in contemporary dance in Britain and has gone on to establish itself as one of the world's most exciting programmers of performing arts.

Building on the dynamism and openness of London, Dance Umbrella leaps into the unknown, pushing boundaries and bringing the very best of the planet's artistic talent to the capital.

The theme for this year's festival is African Crossroads and it will celebrate new dance from the continent, with various performers, including Andreya Ouamba, Vincent Mantose and the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, showing audiences the direction of performing arts in Africa.
