View the largest outdoor fruiting olive tree in Britain

Event: View the largest outdoor fruiting olive tree in Britain
Date: All year round

People who love olives or nature can head down to the Chelsea Physic Garden this summer and see the largest outdoor fruiting olive tree in Britain.

The 'secret garden' gives visitors the chance to learn about nature or simply relax, having over 5,000 species on display.

One attraction of the garden in particular is the olive tree, which grows due to the centre's proximity to the river, creating a warmer microclimate.

This placement of the Chelsea Physic Garden means many plants survive which would not usually make it through the harsh English winters.

The centre has late night openings and Darwin Summer Talks running through July and August, which may provide the perfect evening out for those staying at the nearby luxury London hotel the Egerton.

The lectures are to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the publication of The Origin of Species and Darwin's bicentenary, with each talk coming from a different expert.

Until July 17th the Egerton is offering a package which gives guests tickets to the Opulence of the Baroque exhibition at the V&A, which also includes afternoon tea and a private tour of the hotel's art collection.
