Greenwich and Docklands International Festival at various locations

Event: Greenwich and Docklands International Festival
Date: June 25th until 28th

This year will mark the beginning of a four-year thematic programme for the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival called Out for the Elements.

The idea is to tell the story of Greenwich and East London in a poetic and visually spectacular way, with each event focusing on a particular element and building the celebrations around it.

For 2009, the subject is water, which is fitting considering the area's history has been defined by it.

Visitors to the festival can look forward to various new commissions based on water and its relationship with the people of the region.

Highlights include a son et lumiere inspired by the Thames entitled Water Music, which will be a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Baroque composer Handel.

In addition, French company Ilotopie will put on the poetic spectacle Fous de Bassin, which will be one of many taking place along the famous waterfront.

People are likely to arrive in their droves for the festival, meaning demand for accommodation will be high.

By booking a suite at the luxury London hotel the Egerton House, visitors to the capital can ensure they have somewhere comfortable to stay.

With the Get More From Your Stay package guests can look forward to a choice of traditional afternoon tea, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, a romantic turndown or £50 of Harrods shopping vouchers.
