The chill from Stalin's icy cold fingers reached far and wide during his reign and Colonel Kotov, decorated hero of the Russian Revolution, is to feel the full force of the dictator's brutal rule.
One morning, the war champion is relaxing in the summer sun, enjoying some time in the country with his young wife and family, sampling the simple pleasures that life has to offer.
The year is 1936 and the hero sits contented, believing things could not get any better.
Unbeknown to him, they are about to get a lot worse.
On one glorious morning, his wife's former lover returns after a lengthy and unexplained absence, changing Kolotov's life forever.
He soon begins to feel the cold reality of Stalin's rule as he, his spouse and her ex become embroiled in a complicated tangle of sexual jealousy, political backstabbing and revenge.
Kolotov is left facing a difficult decision as he finds himself caught in the cold hands of corruption.
