A tale brimming with romance and beauty, the story finds Prince Siegfried out hunting in a forest when he spots a beautiful swan.
The young nobleman takes aim to shoot it but before he pulls the trigger, it turns from a pond-dwelling bird into a seductively-beautiful woman who instantly bewitches Siegfried with her stunning demeanor.
Named Odette, she reveals that she is in fact a princess who has been put under the spell of an evil sorcerer called von Rothbart, meaning she takes the form of a swan in the day and a lady at night.
The prince is smitten with the girl and swears he will make her his.
However, things do not go according to plan and the nobleman is tricked into proposing to the wicked magician's daughter, meaning Odette still remains cursed.
In a bid to be with his true love, Siegfried makes the ultimate sacrifice and joins Odette in the lake forever.
