Event: Rae Smith: The War Horse Drawings
Date: January 19th until February 28th
The heart-warming tale of a young man who goes in search of his beloved horse which has been shipped to France to help fight in World War I will be told at the National Theatre in February.
However, before War Horse comes to the stage, the venue is to host an exhibition of sketches and pictures by designer Rae Smith to set the backdrop for this epic story of love and friendship.
The War Horse Drawings begin with evocations of Devon in 1911 and will take visitors on a journey through a battle-scarred landscape where conflict and confusion have taken many young men's lives.
Attendees will be taken through the French trenches, with the pictures depicting what they were like as seen through the eyes of a traumatised and terrified soldier.
The exhibition will paint a picture for audiences of the artistic processes behind the War Horse and how it has developed into one of the most exciting shows ever staged at the National Theatre.
Visitors can escape from war to paradise after the showcase by staying in a suite at the luxury London hotel the Egerton House.
By choosing the Kate Starkey Couture package female guests can look forward to a custom-made suit and two bespoke shirts in addition to champagne on arrival, tickets to the Victoria and Albert Museum and a full English breakfast the next day.
