Event: Hussein Chalayan
Date: January 22nd until May 17th
Fashionistas, designers and industry figures will be drawn to the Design Museum from next month when an extensive look into the work and mind of Hussein Chalayan begins.
Twice named British Designer of the Year, Chalayan is famous for his innovation in using different materials, meticulous pattern cutting and his eagerness to embrace new technology in his creations.
Another place where attention to detail is in evidence is in the luxury London hotel the Egerton House.
Fashion-conscious visitors can take advantage of their own design guru by choosing the Kate Starkey Couture package, which will provide female guests with a custom-made suit and two bespoke shirts, in addition to complimentary trousers or skirt.
At the exhibition, visitors will see 15 years worth of Chalayan's work, displaying his experimental projects, inspirations and how factors such as migration and cultural identity have shaped his thinking.
The Afterwards section will explain the notion of "wearable, portable architecture", whereby items of furniture are transformed into pieces of clothing.
At the Airborne exhibit, attendees will see the latest LED technology mixed with fashion design, with one garment featuring Swarovski crystals and 15,000 flickering lights and another comprising over 200 moving lasers.
