Event: Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008
Date: October 31st until April 26th
Natural splendour will take over the Natural History Museum this autumn as professional and amateur photographers descend on the capital to see who will be crowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year for 2008.
A competition owned by the museum itself along with BBC Wildlife Magazine, the creme-de-la-creme of snappers will join novices and all those in between at what promises to be a showcase of beauty achieved through a combination of skill, vision, originality, knowledge and luck.
Between 15,000 and 20,000 entries are submitted each year and the winner is rewarded with a cheque for £10,000.
The panel of five judges is made up of Kevin Webb, Phil Hurst and Paul Lund - all photographers at the museum - Tor MacIntosh a picture editor and researcher and Wanda Sowry, a picture researcher at BBC Wildlife Magazine.
Visitors can attend in their very own bespoke attire by booking a suite at the luxury London hotel the Egerton House and taking advantage of the Kate Starkey Couture package.
Female travellers can look forward to a two-hour consultation with Kate Starkey Couture for one custom-made suit and two bespoke ladies shirts.
