Event: Drift 08
Date: September 26th until October 19th 2008
London's first annual art exhibition on the Thames, Drift 08, is to take place this September 26th until October 19th 2008.
Described as a "unique" and "ground-breaking" modern-day art show, seven giant installations will feature along the River Thames from Blackfriars Bridge to Canary Wharf.
Organised by Illuminate Productions, the exhibits will be strategically placed close to major transport links including London Bridge, Cannon Street, Tower Hill and Southwark which means that visitors staying at Red Carnation Hotels will have easy access to the art installations.
As part of Drift 08, free weekly Saturday afternoon boat trips travelling past the art works will be available on the Thames, perfect for couples enjoying Romantic breaks at luxury London hotel the Egerton.
Installations include a laser light recreation of the old Blackfriars Railway Bridge, mythical creatures swimming in the river at twilight as part of a hyper-real projection and a sound installation entitled Much was decided before you were born (2), which includes the sound of waves, chatter at the seaside, seagull cries and the "eerie knocking" of rigging against masts.
