Dance fever has been sweeping the country in recent years thanks to shows such as Dancing on Ice and Strictly Come Dancing.

Open to all people, Big Dance 2008 is a seven-day celebration of all styles and forms of dance.

The aim of Big Dance 2008 is to get as many people as possible up and dancing not only during the week but in the preceding period and throughout 2008.

According to LondonTown, the scale of Big Dance is "usually huge" and visitors to London during this period can anticipate seeing troupes of female Morris dancers, posses of hip-hoppers and "whirlwinds" of spinning capoeiristas in the capital.
