Patrons of luxury London hotel the Egerton are being advised to book early to watch Elkie Brooks at the Shaw Theatre if they want to avoid disappointment.

Elkie Brooks is described by the theatre as one of the UK's most successful and popular singers.

Born Elaine Bookbinder in Salford, Manchester, the singer has named her influences as Janis Joplin, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald and Frankie Laine.

In her 50 year career Elkie Brooks has released 19 studio albums and is due to perform in concert in Newark, Hull, Southend-on-Sea and London this year. London Town describes her as a "hard-working" live performer.

The veteran singer is performing at the Shaw Theatre on March 1st 2008 as part of Feinstein's at the Shaw season.

According to the theatre, Brooks annually attracts more than 30,000 fans to her tours and is one of the "most powerful and versatile vocal talents of our generation".
