As 2008 approaches so does a brand new theatre season and guests staying at luxury London hotel the Egerton can look forward to a "breathtaking realisation" of Madam Butterfly at The Coliseum this January.

Running from January 31st until March 7th 2008, Anthony Minghella - Oscar-winning director - returns to the London theatre with his operatic debut Madam Butterfly, which sold out twice during the 2005-06 Sky Arts Season.

Guests of luxury hotel the Egerton who attend performances on February 14th and March 5th can also book in for pre-performance talks to be conducted by Lesley Downer and Sarah Lenton.

Cio-Cio-San - Madam Butterfly, the geisha who abandons her aspirations for the handsome Lieutenant Pinkerton will be played by soprano singer Judith Howarth. Pinkerton's role will be reprised by Gwyn Hughes Jones.

The Sunday Times describes Madam Butterfly as "the hottest opera ticket in London" and David Parry will conduct Puccini's score while Carolyn Choa directs Howarth in the lead role.

A not to be missed event for opera lovers staying at luxury London hotel the Egerton in the new year.
