Guests with an eye for portrait photography staying at luxury London hotel the Egerton in the New Year will not want to miss a new exhibition opening at the National Portrait Gallery.

Vanity Fair Portraits, sponsored by Burberry, is taking place at Wolfson Gallery from February 14th 2008 until May 26th 2008.

Featuring 150 classic images from early Vanity Fair (1913-36) and also 1983 onwards, visitors attending from nearby luxury London hotel the Egerton will no doubt be impressed by images taken by photographers including Edward Steichen, Cecil Beaton and Mario Testino.

Themes of the photographs include business, politics, art, film and sport and subjects vary from Claude Monet to Cary Grant and Madonna.

Movie lovers will delight in the "glamorous" early works depicting the likes of Jean Harlow, Greta Garbo and Gloria Swanson.

Also included at the exhibition will be 22 images by respected photographer Annie Leibovitz while a comprehensive accompanying illustrated book is also available courtesy of curators David Friend and Terence Pepper.
